Nesting, nesting, nesting...
There is a great flurry of nesting going on around our house...
ever since our referral, Mike has been banging out a seemingly endless list of projects, mowing lawns, replacing gates, fixing ceiling fans, installing snails to balance the ecosystem in our fish tank...
...every day off he has, he's off to H*me Dep@t or Le*ws or T@rget...
As for me, I'm trying my best to stay out of the nursery and in the studio...but it's an enormous feat of will. Every time I take a break, I'm wandering in there just to look at it again. The nursery is my "happy place".
(By the way, this beautiful painting was done by our friend Sandra Bierman. I love her paintings of motherhood!)
And although I drew a pattern for a new series of stuffed animals I want to make, and washed and stacked my fabric scraps, I have been leaving that project set aside on a table for when I've finished my current round of studio work. And then my mum sent me these luscious koi fabrics from the Woodstock quilting supply...how can I resist??

Your mom is a serious enabler! LOL! I fondly remember spending happy time in Sydney's room before she came home. For me, the whole process of putting her room together and getting all the baby supplies ready helped me to mentally and emotionally prepare for the passage to moetherhood. Of course, I was still completely freaked when they placed a small, screaming baby in my arms, but at least I was a little bit prepared!
Oh my... I thought that you were nesting badly... seems that Mike is even worse... it is so cute... hehehe
Love the elephant picture! Your nails too! The frabric is so pretty, it would make a nice little pillow.
For me, like Heather, the nursery became my mental preparation. My place of joy and my refuge when the time kept lengthening. However, your nursery will never look as pretty as when it has been trashed by your baby. Then, like the velveteen rabbit, you will love it so much more.
I hate to admit that our daughter does not even have a room, let alone a crib, let alone a crib sheet. WHen the wait stretched to 2+ years we put her room addition on hold. Now she might just get one of her brother's rooms as they will be leaving for college as she comes home. Sigh.
Enough of my sappy sob story, onto bigger and better things.......FLYNN! What a great dad, getting things ready for his sweet girl. Melts my heart. And what a cool grandma rocking the fat quarters. The koi print is delicious (that sounds morbid, but you know what I mean).
Fun stuff:) Nothing cuter than a daddy getting ready for his baby!
nothing cuter than a dad getting ready for his baby... wait till you see the two of the napping on the couch!!! and you will!!
I was relieved to find out that the earth quake was nowhere near Flynn, but I hope it doesn't have consequences for your friends in the 'waiting room'. xxx M.
I think it is very cute that M is nesting too. And the fabric is beautiful! It is good to keep yourselves busy while you wait. And daydream!
There's nothing sweeter than a daddy nesting. And fixing. Isn't it sexy?
It's a good thing you guys are getting this stuff done now. Very soon you will be quite occupied with other things :)
