Every afternoon...well, every sunny afternoon...we pass this icecream shop in our stroller. There is also a well-used basketball court on the opposite corner, so this is arguably Q's favorite corner in all of Denver.
Now, every time we get within five blocks or so of this corner, Q starts furiously signing "icecream" and "basketball" alternately.
At first, I though...well, how am I going to handle this? There is no other viable route by which to get to the confluence (our summer route). And there's really no missing that two-story-high cream jug when you pass it on the street. I'm just going to have to say "no", right? I mean, we can't stop for icecream every day....
....can we?
And that's when the epiphany clicked in my brain.
Because, when you think about it, there's really no actual rule written anywhere that says we can't stop for icecream every day.
It doesn't say that anywhere. I looked.
Of course, she's not really all that fond of sweets. It's more like she just likes the idea of icecream. She likes the event. The pomp and circumstance. She eats two bites, maybe three on a good day. And then she's over it. And there's a nearly-full cup of icecream left for me to finish. And that's when I realized it: a 20-month-old is the perfect excuse to eat a different flavor of icecream every single day of the summer.
Just look at that face. Could you say "no"?
I didn't think so.

Oh this is great for my insomniac rounds. It is 1:53 AM here. Oh please, look at that little face! She would be as spoiled as Mr.Man is! My husband makes sure to spoil Ms.Sally so don't worry.
Love the pictures, the colors the freshness of them.
no way could I say No to that sweet face! Enjoy all the flavors of Summer!
Sounds like Mommy is going to have a yummy summer!
You're onto the something! Em is the same way. She likes the excitement and the hoopla associated with picking something out. She too eats just a few bites. Our local chain ice cream place has $1 cones on Tuesdays through the summer. It's a good excuse to go for a nice walk.
I look everytime you post but have a hard time posting a comment(just busy)-but I have time today so I just want to say I love the pics-keep them coming!
This post made me very happy!
What a fab life with Flynn and now you're adding ice cream. Too much bliss!
I am with you on this one. There are no rules when it comes to ice cream!
Love it!
Maia, I have a dear friend here locally that has been waiting with her LID for a LONG time, they are considering moving to the waiting families program with CCAI. Would you be willing to speak with her by any chance?
Hope to see you guys soon!

isacah is the same about the idea of something but could care less most days about eating the entire thing...everytime i see her face it is different! i was looking at the picture on the side of your blog of m holding her on your first trip to the mtns...she looks so little, then i realized that holland is about that age now! wild!!!
yum.
You're funny. I can't say no either, but BB can eat an adult-sized ice cream by herself. In fact, she might eat hers, then get into someone else's. She's smooth that way.
You can have ice ceream any time you want!! Even for breakfast!! LOL!! After all, it can be a serving dairy, right??!! That means calcium and vitamin D for growing bones!!!
Ooopps!! Didn't spell check before posting!! You can have Ice Cream anytime you want!!! LOL!!!
where ice cream is concerned there's only one rule: NEVER SAY NO TO ICE CREAM, hahaha
oh that is so CLEVER. and, being the ice cream lover that i am. hmmm. well, you've given me a new and unexpected reason to really look forward to motherhood.
