tulips

Only about five of our new tulips actually bloomed this year, but these two black-purple ones were so beautiful, I had to crop them and bring them indoors. Turns out it was the right decision, since in the dry air and strong, harsh sun of Colorado, the blooms themselves don't last long. Inside, in a vase, they opened every morning and closed every evening, shiny and rich with color, lasting days longer than I would have thought possible. I hope next year will be a more forgiving spring and we will have many more tulips to enjoy!
