We have a pear tree!
This little tree has been outside our house since we bought it, and for three summers it has born no fruit. My mother, when she came to visit, was convinced it was a fruit tree, though we couldn't guess what kind. Suddenly, this summer it is heavy with pears!
What a delightful and unexpected bounty.

QQ looks so tall in this picture! How tall is she now? We used to have a pear tree in our old yard and enjoyed its bounty with a woodchuck we named Peary...until our neighbor decided to help herself and presented us with pear jelly at a later date.
a magical fruit...are you sure Q didn't beguile it into bearing fruit?
I can't see the pear, I am staring at her cute self in that hat.
Yum. I'm betting they would be so wonderful baked, served warm with some simple vanilla ice cream.
that is my all time favorite fruit!
Or poached with spices, cut in half and served with a little cream. Though I am with Yoli. That hat is another triumph! : )
