random cute photos
Yesterday we went around the block to visit our neighbor Deirdre and her kiddos Sidamo and Nora (not pictured...sorry!). Flynn, who loves to visit, had a blast. She also brought home a special gift with many uses...
...as you can see, it was a big hit.
Anything that can distract her from the thought of food when she's sitting in her highchair is worth it's weight in gold. Flynn pooh-poohs most fuzzy or cutesy toys (with a couple of exceptions), but anything that tickles the brain - like this one - is worth investigating in her book!
It was really feeling a lot like fall yesterday, grey and chill, and mommy and Flynn went on their first full hour-and-a-half run together around Sloan's Lake with the stroller. In spite of many layers and blankets, mommy was guiltily certain that she was inadvertently giving Flynn pneumonia, especially since the little bunny kept tearing her hat off every five minutes. But the fact that we made it all the way round the lake without a single meltdown was quite the victory for all involved. Nevertheless, after daddy came home and we all went to the dog park, mommy insisted on dressing Flynn up in full double-layer fleece body armor, complete with paws (and ears). She's quite the little polar bear.
It's pretty cute. It's also, I imagine, pretty hot once back indoors...so we gave her a little air down the belly. Here's daddy and Flynn lounging after our chilly evening stroll.
So cute I had to post two of them.
And in conclusion...the girl is still wanting to be on her feet at every possible opportunity. She's quite the big girl about town these days. She stood up at Deirdre's for quite some time yesterday, and even showed off a few of her dance moves when Sidamo pulled out the Xylophone.
But seriously, look how tiny she still is! She's just a baby bunny! And we're so glad that we got her so young. We wouldn't have missed this time for the world. Oh, and mommy still loves to feed her in the crook of her arm every morning, with those sloe-eyes batting flirtatiously at her over the bottle. I'm not ready to give her over to the high chair yet. Not....yet....!
(Thank goodness they recommend arm-feeding for attachment purposes ;) ...QQ and I are going to be good and attached before I give up the "bottle service"!)

Very cute! And they are never too old or big to be in our laps or arms.
By the way, Kerri loved playing with the weirdest things. Large beads in a tupperware were multi-purpose, she could shake them or practice putting them in and taking them out for hours! And the box is always a favorite, to this day. Pot lids and pans with wooden spoons made great instruments, and the dog's toys were always more interesting than her own (and vice versa).
Thanks for sharing more cute pictures!
You are so lucky to have her now. I really grieved over the lost time before I got YaYa. However, she was only 18 lbs at almost two, so still really a baby. YaYa was like Qiu Qiu and mostly ignored her stuffed toys until now (at 4). My theory is that now she has enough language and a sense of how to tell a story so she is able to play long imaginative games with them so they interest her. Earlier she was doing more exploratory and imitative play. Qiu Qiu looks super cute in white!
There is nothing random about her cuteness and I'm certain all you did was give yourself a good case of WORRY... :O) She'll be pneumonia free for sure!
Aside from her pure sweetness, those little feet are so bitable,,,but in a good way! She is adorable!

She does look like such a tiny p-nut! And I think you have at least another year of bottles! I think both our girls stayed on until well past age 2 and it was the best for getting to know each other. Rocking and singing together during bottle time...perfection.
Sweet! Bing-Bing has that toy too. Love it! That lounging with Dad pic is the best.
Oh Maia, Your little Flynn is absolutely beautiful!! Jillian reacts the same way with toys! And, food is of the absolute utmost importance. We're so happy to see Flynn doing so well!! And, there's nothing like that special feeling holding your baby in your arms while she enjoys her bottle!! It is a feeling that just amazes me to no end!!!
BTW, Maia, I finally came across the picture you mentioned on our blog that has our Jillian in the crib next to Flynn!!! I absolutely love it!! It does my heart good to know that they had each other in that time as they waited for their Moms and Dads to bring them home!! Jan, John & Jillian Rose
Your girl is beautiful. She reminds me of my oldest who was so tiny (15 lbs)and walking when we met her. It was hilarious to see such an itty bitty person walk across the room!
I've been following your blog for some time (lurking, I believe is the term!) but want to ask who you pronounce QhiQhi's name. My younger daughter is QiQi, which we pronounce Chi-Chi. I've been trying to think what the 'h' in your girl's name would add. Perhaps you can enlighten me sometime!
Elaine, It's actually a "u" - QiuQiu.
It's pronounced Choo-Choo (more or less!) But I like ChiChi! My dear cousin (French) was named Beatrice, but everyone called her Chichi. Also, in French, ChouChou (the "ch" is soft, like "sh") is a term of endearment. So we like all the random connections!
That is adorable, love her outfits and her tenacity on walking. It is funny, we bought a high chair and never used it. We fed Sally until she could feed herself and Mr.Man still gets fed and a bottle. I agree, it does wonders for attachment.
Heather, how is the weather there? Must be devine.
I love your blog style...and the post about "when you fell in love" really got me...

Thanks! I've always been rather bad at spelling, but don't know where I found the 'h'. Choo-choo is very nice!
Happy bundled bunny baby!
Adorable!
And happy anniversary week, too!
How gorgeous... she truly is Princess of the household...
