Scenes from our Valentine's Day

Well...it was actually a couple of days, because QQ and I jumped the gun and hit Happy Cakes, the gourmet cupcake bakery, a bit early. M. started the Happy Cakes craze by bringing a box home for my birthday when they first opened. We've been addicted ever since, and they're kind of a holiday default for us. (They're on 32nd street, Highlands Square, for you Denverites!)

....are you convinced yet? But they're not just pretty. The flavor is the real draw. They have flavors that you've never met in a cupcake before - light, subtle, zesty and sometimes exotic. The cointreau and daiquiri flavors are among my favorite, along with the strawberry lemonade. Superb.

Hope you all had a beautiful day! We actually haven't had a chance to celebrate yet...but we leave for San Francisco tomorrow afternoon, and we will have ample time to relax and enjoy ourselves as a family in our deep Japanese-style tub at the Hotel Kabuki for the next week!
...stay tuned for photos of our trip! I'm sure there will be no shortage.

I dont know if it's still there, but 10 years ago we went to the Sony Metreon and to Maurice Sendaks 'where the wild things are'...it was AMAZINGLY fun for the little ones...and me too!

If it's still there it's worth a look if you like the book...tonnes to play on.
