Living from the soul

"The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity."

- Albert Einstein

I had all sorts of wonderful ideas about what I was going to say to go with this particular collage. In the end, words failed me. I had to turn to Albert Einstein for a quote that encompasses all the wonder, all the amazement, all the awe that comes over me when I contemplate my life as it has become.
Here is my handsome and loving husband, who always puts his family and those he cares for before himself, who values honesty and hard work and stoicism above all else in those around him. My husband who knows the value of joy, of family, of love, and who understands and stands in awe of the immensity of the world's mysteries.
Here is our beautiful daughter, who loves us and shows us that love on a daily basis, in spite of the fact that she has known us for less than four months - in spite of the fact that she has no earthly reason to put her trust in us after all that has happened to her - and been taken from her - in her short life. The daughter who smiles through her tears when she wakes from a long night's sleep to see our faces. The daughter who, tonight on our run, when I stopped to check on her bottle, took both my large hands in her tiny grasp and pulled both my palms against her warm cheeks, and gave me the most beatific and intensely loving smile I have ever seen in my time on this earth.
Here are the almost preternaturally beautiful lillies that my husband brought home for me when I was having a particularly hard day, the lillies which opened from tight, furled cones into wide, freckled, golden, smiling blooms, giving off into our kitchen an aroma as rare as the most expensive of perfumes.
Here is my warm and comfortable home, my family...and yes, it's still hard for me to believe that I have a family.
And I am amazed.
I am astounded, on a daily basis.
I am still striving to deserve what I have been fortunate enough to have in this lifetime.
I am in awe.

I saw M and QQ in today's post and immediately in my head I heard: got myself a cryin', talkin', sleepin', walkin', livin' doll...
Doesn't she look just like a little doll there? ;-)
