QQ's first Christmas tree

QQ had her second post-operative checkup with the plastic surgeon the other morning (it was just fine, and we are set to schedule her second surgery for spring), and since we were out on the town at an early hour on a fine, warmish morning after the big snow, we decided to stop at the tree yard and pick up her very first Christmas tree.

Lost in a forest of expectant Christmas trees, still spangled with the remains of the recent snow.

Enjoying the scent of pines.

Getting a snuggle from daddy.

A recent development...QQ has learned to give a kiss when asked. Only trouble is, she's still quite wary of her mouth, and though she will now accept a kiss on her mouth without turning away, her own version of a kiss involves her pressing her cheek against ours.

Dangling, one of her favorite activities, along with hanging upside-down, being tossed in the air, and standing on one foot on a high surface. Yes, we're going to have our hands full with this little daredevil.

This picture takes me back to sitting on my own father's shoulders when I was her size. What a feeling!

Having chosen, we proudly followed our tree inside for purchase.

Custom flocking? Uhm, no thanks.

Paying for our tree.

Arriving at the house....

...and set up in the mudroom.

It had to be done...the honorary donning of the Christmas hat.

She was very suspicious...

...and didn't give in without a struggle.

But the hat was donned, and the season is officially christened! Now on to decorating the tree! Stay tuned.

Hi Maia,
We are about to be united with our little one in Wuchuan SWI, Guangdong Provinceon January 5th! (bilateral cl/cp). A friend on one of the Yahoo Groups (I think it is adopt-parents-China? ... can't remember) said I had to see your fabulous blog. Formerly an ecologist (who dabbles in illustration), I found your blog to be so stunning and artistic. I am now preparing to be a stay-at-home mom (yikes!). Anyway, can you tell me what camera and/or lens you are using. I have no words for how lovely the picture of your little girl, wearing the silk outfit and reaching towards you, is. Peace, Meryl Rose merylgoldinrose@gmail.com

There is so much joy in all your faces! I love that QQ compensates for kisses by turning her cheek, who wouldn't want to kiss those cheeks!
I am so happy she's healing well. Her pretty mouth looks great!

Have fun decking the halls, walls, etc lol
