My husband

This is M., my partner in crime, my confidante, my ally, the man who stands by me in all decisions, makes me laugh, holds me up if ever I'm down, sustains me with his amazing cooking, cleans the kitchen when I'm busy, camps with me in the desert, and never, never lets me down.

Mike and I shared many a long and strenuous hike, many a wild night, and many a dusty roadtrip while we lived in Vail. Those were good times. Now we're in the city...well, sort of. But these are good times too. We've spent the last year sharing this amazing adoption journey together, and it has already changed and matured us in ways we could never have anticipated. We have grown and learned so much about ourselves, weathered difficult moments and shared millions of little thrills of anticipation. We have watched one another changing bit by bit into parents, and we look forward to the ultimate transformation.

Mike is now studying for his BMA at Daniels Business school, and scoring top grades in spite of the fact that he is ALSO working fulltime as web producer at a TV news station...a fact of which I am constantly in awe. He is the strongest person I've ever met (in so many ways) and can stand up under the heaviest of workloads. He is a stoic and an individual and an intellectual, a comedian and an amazing chef, and the rock of this family in so many ways.

That's the man that I married, against all odds, and I still can't believe that in all this enormous world we managed to find one another, to have the insight to recognize what we saw, and the guts to do something about it.

Fate is an amazing thing. And marrying your soul mate is even more amazing. But watching your life partner turn into a wonderful parent is even better. The best is yet to come!
