More QiuQiu

You might be able to tell from all the frou-frou that I am infatuated to the point of distraction with this little girl. In fact, I am so infatuated that even my distaste for pink has started to crumble, only just a little. Maybe it's all the pink in her crib, I don't know. Or maybe I've just departed my senses a bit in the face of all this beauty. I will illustrate this statement later.
(Since many people have asked, her name is pronounced "ChooChoo". She will still be Flynn, with QiuQiu as a middle name, but we love the name QiuQiu and I think it will be used as one of her nicknames, of which I'm sure she'll have many!)

Did you get ANOTHER update picture? How great!
I'm sort of with you on the no pink wagon, but have to tell you that any pink, even the horrid purplish pink favoured by toymakers and clothes-with-characters makers (eg. d*ra clothes)...any pink at all looks Fantastico on our girls and will get rave reviews. Though red is just as Fabulous and much less offensive.
I did YaYa's room in a soft blue green with cream trim and put in some chintz rose fabric for girliness and I have to say that with the green-blue a little pale pink looks very satisfying and evokes cherry blossoms and other good things.
My final pink story is the trip to find some fabric for the edge and underside of a quilt I still hope to make before she leaves home for university. I asked the fabric saleswoman for some ballet pink, picturing something pale and with a touch of peach to it. She showed me the wrong purplish pink but when I failed to be thrilled she confided that she knows exactly what I mean as the right colour just makes you so happy and excited to get making things. What a nice encounter!
How wonderful that QiuQiu gets a mother who completely appreciates her beauty! You can see so much going on in those eyes she is bound to be equally intelligent too. Exciting times ahead.

I can't believe how in love I am with YOUR daughter- so I almost fear for you and how tightly you're already wrapped around her finger!! (hehe). I was showing her pic off yesterday to some of my good friends here in town. I'm always like, "LOOK AT THOSE EYES?? SHE LOOKS LIKE ROYALTY"!

I SO cannot wait to see you guys TOGETHER!!

I recently discovered that the baby names in China (where they double the name like "QiuQiu" or in the case of my daughter "Fang Fang") are called milk names - which I thought was so sweet and appropriate!

Oops, sorry for that last double post. I had to come back to add that women from Jiangsu are famous all over China for their beauty. They are known to be tall, beautiful and have long, lustrous hair. Everywhere we went in China people would ask where Fang Fang was from and then say, "Oh! Yes! Jiangsu! Beautiful women! Beautiful!"

And also - I know you have the Signing Times flash cards, but don't hesitate to get the dvd's - they are miraculous. Not only have I seen the results with Fang Fang (and myself and my son and husband, too - I can usually watch a dvd once and have all the vocabulary memorized by the time it's over) but I have a friend who has a child who is also cleft affected, and she is not even three yet, and can already finger spell, among many other amazing abilities. They are really effective, wonderful tools. I don't know what we would have done without them!

We did almost everything pink in the beginning, because Kerri had very little hair and everyone kept mistaking her for a boy. Not that a pink frilly dress helped.
I can't get over the pronounciation, Pookie's cousin, a shitzhu, is called Choo-choo in french. That is his name, honest.

Maia, to answer your question, I think it is spelled in French but they pronounce it (read in english) as choo-choo. If I had to guess I would think you have the french spelling right.
Lots of red threads for sure!

I love that you kept part of her name. We decided the same thing. K & A are Fu Mei and Fu Jie. Qiu Qiu has gorgeous hair.
