Sleepover, part III

Once we had the kiddo dressed in something halfway warm, we headed to the art museum. Mike's parents gave us memberships for Christmas here and at the Nature & Science museum, and so naturally we've been making use of them every chance we get! Here's V on the skywalk overlooking the city.

By this time the snow had turned to a drizzle. The museum has all sorts of wonderful overlooks out above Denver, and from this one we could see the gilded dome of the Capitol, which was our next stop on the afternoon's itinerary.

In the "treasure room", we found this amazing sailing ship made entirely of cut crystal and sterling silver. Better than all the crowns and dubloons in the room! I love the crystal beads like dew in the rigging. Just the kind of thing that fairytales are made of!

Here, V was trying to photograph the snow on the foothills, but with all the haze in the air it was a difficult task. "It's too far away!" she finally decided, handing the camera back to me in frustration.

V's picture of M. and I among the Native American artifacts.

V, hamming it up (for a change) while we waited for the elevator.

A grove of giant stick horses. I like them. Especially on a rainy day.

M. playing "I'm gonna getcha" with V on our way to the capital. It won't be long before she's too big for him to push around!

As it turned out, we had just missed the last tour of the dome itself. But the dome museum was still open. Notice how the walls are almost the same color as Flynn's room? Someone's got good taste!

Look at those workers standing on the i-beams. I love those pictures. Through the window you can see the inner workings of the dome, like the gears of an enormous clock. Very cool.

Victoria getting patriotic after touring Denver's government seat. Meanwhile, I was on the phone with our new social worker, doing a last-minute interview for our I171h extension. There's a lot of flying by the seat of our pants these days! I can't say it isn't exciting, even though it does give my just the teensiest bit of an ulcer every now and then ;)

Victoria's shot of the three of us reflected in the car window as we left the parking garage. I love seeing things through a kid's eyes. The end of a good day.

Can I have a sleepover at your house? You hit more of the Denver sights in one day than I've visited in my eight years here. I need to check out that breakfast place, too … mmm!

I agree with Heather... I am going to have to check out some of these places next time we are in the city of Denver... we haven't been in the city itself as yet... take care
