Decorated.

Sorry for the anticipation...against the odds, we did get our tree both up and decorated, and it looks lovely. For those who have been fearing for our vintage ornaments ;) ......the tree is shut out in the mudroom. This was the perfect solution. It's visible and lit at night from the outside, which makes it very nice to approach the house. It's also in the cold (there's no heating in the mudroom), which helps it to last longer. And, of course, QQ can only get to it if we open the inner door and escort her out there. It's really ideal.
We've had a couple of deep freezes lately in Denver - the first one hit an 113-year record for cold. Denver is usually pretty mild in the winter (I know that most people don't realize that). The nice thing about the deep freezes (though they keep me cooped up inside, and I get a little crazy) is that if you open the inner door from the livingroom, the heat from the inside hits the bitter cold from the outside, and all the windowpanes instantly frost up. It's a lovely effect, and I've learned to use it to my advantage!
Sweet, no?
It's so pretty with all those ferns and blooms of frost on the vintage glass.
Happy Holidays, everyone! OX
