Doing hard time

I won't lie to you, the last few days have not been easy. M went back to work and has been working his 11-hour weekend shifts, working until 11:30 pm, which are a whole different ballgame now that we have a baby in the house. No one gets the sleep they need (well, except Flynn, who's sleeping like a champ) and the days are very long for all of us.
The worst of my sick days were very bad, and I don't know how I would have managed without my mum, who has been a Godsend. Picture changing the diaper blowout of a toxic baby who's on 2 different hard-core meds and has giardia...while you're nauseous, weak as a kitten and seeing spots from two weeks of next to zero nutritional intake, and your guts feel like they're being burned with an acetalyne torch. Then picture trying to fill up the sink, bathe the baby, detox the surfaces (so that the rest of the family doesn't get parasites) and get the soiled clothes into the washer with enough bleach to kill the bugs, and then get yourself into the shower before you re-soil the baby and everything else you touch.
Yah. So that's giardia.

Trying to entertain the kiddo (and keep the doggie reassured) on my sickbed.

This is immediately after said diaper blowout, and its consequences. You can't tell but I'm covered in baby poop in this picture. Oh, yeah, and the kid is on the floor, because my mum was on a grocery run when it happened, and walked in to find me trying to handle the situation with only two hands. I look happier than I was, only because she's so cute when she's being toweled-off (one of her favorite things!). Even in a crisis situation, there's nothing cuter than a naked Flynn wrapped in a towel.

How do you entertain an energetic baby when you're too weak to stand up? Here I'm showing her pictures of her former "cellmates" on the internet. Yes, she does recognize her friends from the orphanage! She bounces up and down and says "hah!" and reaches for the screen! The only thing that gets her more excited, of course, is pictures of her very own self!

That is a good thing that your mum is there... you are going to have to let me in on this 'parasite'... from how you describe it... I DO NOT want it... hope you are feeling better soon... hugs to you all...

I'm catching up on all your posts backwards! I'm so sorry this hit you so hard. It really is incredibly debilitating! But I'm glad you seem to be much better in your more recent posts!

Even sick, you really are shining with love when you look at your daughter. It's amazing.
