Desert solitaire

Remember that post I wrote, shortly after we brought Flynn QiuQiu home, where I admitted to having briefly mourned the life I'd left behind? The independent, unfettered life on the road, with no one but my dog to tie me down? Well, I did recover from that brief period of mourning. I left it behind. I no longer regret the passage into this new life. I am fully in and of my life as a mother.
That said, from time to time on this blog I like to revisit the old photos, the ones I took on the road, on the highways and byways of the Southwest. Those of you who have been with this blog for a long time will recognize some of these. I hope I have added a few new ones.
We will return to the desert, and QQ will come to love it as we have. I so look forward to introducing her to life on the road. (If, that is, any of us can still afford the gas!)
But for the time being, I have my memories, neatly (OK, not so neatly) stored on discs and external hard drives. I like to pull them out from time to time, revisit them, feel the dry, warm air on my skin, smell the creosote bushes, the hot tar and the red dust, and rework my photos with my gradually (very gradually) improving knowledge of how to handle photos.
So here's a little walk down memory lane, from some long, languid, solitary days spent in deserts of my past....

Those are very beautiful and sexy. That collage speaks of your blog title. Great images Maia.

I think your daughter will gladly follow in your footsteps. And maybe by then you can take some of your favorite photos and recreate them with Flynn in them (sort of a before and after shot). I hope to be able to take Kerri to all the wonderful places I have been to some day!

hey when It was just me and Mya we did everthing together. I am a big fan of the beach I would work 7 days in a row 12 hour shifts at the hospital and then drive a hour to the beach sleep on the beach for like 3 hours and then surf for a few eat lunch sleep a bit longer and surf and then eat dinner and drive home- I loved it, but when Mya came I thought how would I do it-hey we just took turns laying on the beach with our wonderful little girl and we never had a better time-at least we thought so. But after you have 4 or 5 it gets a bit tricky but we still make it out to the beach and everywhere else and enjoy sharing with the kids! I hope one day they will do the same with their children!
