QQ says "don't pollute!"

For ages, M. and I have talked about the need to re-instate those "don't pollute" ad campaigns that were circulating in the '70s. How come we don't have those in heavy rotation on TV these days, to help balance out all the merchandising and junk-hawking? Looking into QQ's pure, bright, joyful little face every morning just makes it feel even more urgent. Let's keep the world clean for her, can't we?

I think it is everyone's duty to stop pollution. Those commercials are indeed needed, more now than ever. We are after all leaving this earth to our children. We need to be responsible.

I'm the resident recycler at my office (being a Dr.s office we, of course, have to shred any paper that has any patient info on it), and we recycle at home. My daughter is going to end up making regular trips with Mommy to the recycling drop-off which is luckily just down the highway. Hopefully that and living less wastefully and with fewer "disposables" will just become a lifestyle and a habit for her.

I'll put my 2 cents in. How about composting your kitchen scraps? We love to compost and you don't have to live in the woods to do it. And how about buying fruits and veggies from local growers? BYOB of course. Monica

Woo-hoo! I love to see all these comments and suggestions.
We compost for our gardens, and, Monica, I am a huge fan of the locavore movement, though we are not strictly locavores, I'm sorry to say. As for our recycling, it's very easy in our neighborhood, since we have a great curbside recycling program...and I very much admire those people who recycle even when they have to go far out of their way to do it.
Hayley, as always - you take the cake. I can't wait to hear my daughter repeat the word "recycle".
Carrie, of course I know you guys do your part, and then some. You rule. OX
